My work looks at debates within the black community across the African Diaspora, black bastions, values and desires. What are our proclaimed and actual values and how far can we speak of sharing these? When do shared values become stereotypes and then decried as racism? How does commercial Black culture affect black people’s perception of each other? What is the difference between black products aimed at a white audience and black products for black people?

As a member of a tiny black community in Germany I find it fascinating to look at other places where black communities are larger and more powerful. My work often facilitates a connection to other black communities for me.

Recently I have been expanding my practice to look at specific issues within motherhood, labor, immigration and health. I believe Art is an important revolutionary force I want to make powerful works that impact upon the viewer on a number of levels.
